A 25 cents/day overdue fine is charged on all overnight and daytime-only materials. All other materials do not incur overdue fines. A lost item can be taken care of one of two ways:

• Replace the item. This must be done within one year of the original checkout date to ensure that the record is still in the library automation system. The item must also be in the same format (hardback, paperback, etc.) and in new/like new condition.
• Pay for the lost item. The replacement cost of the item will be printed on the overdue notice. Should the item be found at a later time, we will gladly refund your money (minus any overdue fines) or allow you to keep the item, if you replaced it. Make checks payable to Oakwood High School.

To place holds, renew books, and/or check fines:

1. Visit the Online Catalog.
2. Click on “Review My Account”
3. Enter access codes:
   1. Do not enter a User ID
   2. Alternate ID is your student ID number
   3. PIN: Your Birthdate (MMDD)

Whether visiting the LMC with a class or during study hall, all students are expected to behave appropriately. Students who do not meet the behavioral expectations for the LMC may lose their LMC privileges temporarily. Student expectations are as follows:

• All students who are not with a class and staying for more than a few minutes should sign in at the circulation desk and sign out upon leaving using the digital form. Students who sign out of the Library Media Center are expected to report back to class or study hall. Failure to do so constitutes “skipping” and will result in a detention.
• Food and drinks are permitted, as long as all trash/recyclables ends up in the proper receptacle
• Students should visit the LMC with an academic purpose: studying, reading, researching, checking out or returning a book, etc.
• Printing is restricted to school-related assignments. Non-academic print jobs will be charged a fee of $.10/page for black and white copies.
• Talking should be kept to a low volume.
• All staff members, students, materials, equipment, and furniture should be treated respectfully.

Teachers may schedule their classes for the LMC on a first-come, first-served basis. Students and teachers should understand that occasionally the LMC may be closed to drop-in students and during lunch due to class usage or meetings. Mrs. Ashworth does her best to ensure that all students have access to LMC resources as needed.
