Oakwood girls' varsity golf beat Northmont at Meadowbook Tuesday, Aug. 28 191-213.  Lauren Hapgood was match medalist, shooting a 42.

Girls' Volleyball

Varsity swept Franklin on the road 25-9, 25-22, 25-12 behind the serving of Myra Hamilton and Emma Gordon with defensive help from Ashton Tucker and Izzy Caruso.

Jills beat Valley View in the Pit

Playing in the Pit, the Jills varsity volleyball team rallied twice in the first two sets to beat a scrappy and motivated Valley View team 27-25, 25-23, 25-19.

The Jills were lead by the serves of Anna Millard, defense of Stephanie Joseph and hits from Carleigh Crowl.

OHS varsity volleyball overwhelmed Stebbins this afternoon, sweeping the Indians in three straight sets 25-4, 25-22, 25-14. Allyssa Sullivan and Ellie Jones dominated the net defensively, allowing the Jills' offense to control the pace  of play. The Jills are now 5-4 in SWBL.

Varsity volleyball won in straight sets at Dixie Saturday, Oct. 6 25-14, 25-20 and 25-13. Myra Hamilton and Stephanie Joseph’s serves kept Dixie off balance and the net defense of Ellie Jones and Allyssa Sullivan stuffed any offense allowing the Jills to control the game on both sides of the net

Varsity volleyball falls in three to to Brookville Oct. 8

Brookville beat the Jill’s VB team in a hotly contested match 18-25, 20-25 and 21-25 Tuesday evening. The Jills record dropped to 8-11 (5-7) as they head to Thursday’s 7:00 pm Senior Night match vs crosstown rival Fairmont HS.

Boys' varsity golf picked up a second SWBL win Tuesday, beating Brookville 159-170. Alex Grant led the team with a 37, followed by Tom McCarthy with a 39, Sam Lahmon shot a 41, and Ryan Quigley and Dan Flannery both carded 42's.

Boys' varsity golf came away with a decisive win in the team's first SWBL match of the season Tuesday, Aug. 14 at Sugar Valley Golf Club. The Jacks finished with a team score of 149 to Bellbrook's 180.

The boys' varsity golf team picked up its third SWBL win today, with a 159-199 victory over Monroe. Sam Lahmon led the team with a 37.

Boys' varsity golf survived the Firebird Invite in oppressive heat and humidity to place 6th out of 19 teams at Beavercreek Golf Club with a team score of 322. Sam Lahmon led the Jacks with a 76.

OHS varsity boys' golf won the SWBL title today with a score of 318, beating the field by 10 strokes.  Sophomore Tom McCarthy led the team with a 77. Senior Sam Lahmon was named player of the year.

Congratulations to the OHS varsity boys' golf team placing 6th at the Ohio State Division II boys' championship, held at the OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus.

Senior Sam Lahmon led the Jacks, shooting a 79 and finishing tied for 13th overall. Junior RC Cosler and sophomore Tom McCarthy each carded 87's, with senior Alex Grant shooting an 88 and junior Ryan Quigley a 90.

OHS Field Hockey team celebrates a 3-2 win over Summit Country Day

Oakwood High School varsity field hockey is 1-0 in the SWOFHL  after a 3-2 season-opening win over Summit Country Day Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Junior Jaelynn Nelson Mays scored all three OHS goals.

The Jills played their home opener Sept. 8 against the visiting Lancaster Gales.  Senior Captain and Center Midfielder Katie King put the Jills on the scoreboard first. Senior Forward Tess Henderson added two more goals for the Jills.

Strong defense helped the Jills win 7-1

The Jills beat the Talawanda Braves 7-1.

The Jills controlled the game from the beginning, posting a 2-0 lead at halftime.   OHS  ultimately won 7-1 with goals scored by Tess Henderson (2), Grace Farash, Nelson-Mays, Hannah Grushon, Abby Taylor and Katie King.  Assists were credited to Bramer (2), Henderson and Nelson-Mays.  The Jills pounded 33 shots on goal, compared to Talawanda’s three.

Varsity field hockey hosts Indian Hill Wednesday, Oct. 10 for Senior Night. The Jills will recognize Tess Henderson, Abby Wootton, Audrey Owens, Torrie Studebaker, Hannah Grushon and Katie King between the JV and varsity games. JV will be at 5:30 p.m. with varsity scheduled for 7 p.m.

Girls' varsity tennis is celebrating a big win after claiming the title in the Pickerington Central Doubles Invitational Saturday, Aug. 18. The Jills beat out seven other top teams from around the state to win the pre-season event.

Sophomore Lily McCloskey became Sectional Singles Champ, Saturday, Oct. 6.  She faced teammate Sarah Hall, who finished 2nd, in the final match.  Sophomore Katie Ritschel finished 4th. All three girls advance to Districts at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason.

Cross Country

Runners in the Miamisburg Invitational

The Oakwood High School cross country teams ran at the Miamisburg Invitational Saturday, Sept. 1. The girls finished 10th out of 15 teams, with the boys placing 14th out of 25 teams.

Oakwood’s top finishers in the varsity race for the Jacks were junior John Siskaninetz (70th, 19:20) and sophomore Scott Caley (73rd, 19:23). Rounding out the top seven finishers for Oakwood were Will Ayres (84th, 19:45), Connor Lockhart (101st, 20:21), Ryan Eldridge (106th, 20:41) and Robert Hochwalt (108th, 20:56).

The top finishers for the Jills were seniors Mary Kidwell (20th, 21:29), Hannah Potter (58th, 23:59), Aria Kupka (68th, 24:34), Marissa Dewing (70th, 24:50) and Holly Cassidy (83rd, 25:52). Rounding out the top seven finishers for Oakwood were Julia Guzman (91st, 26:49) and Cate Bowman (92nd, 27:11).
