Career Technical Education
Oakwood, Centerville and Kettering High Schools participate in a Career Tech compact to provide career-technical education opportunities to students at the three schools.
As a result of this partnership, OHS students are eligible to apply for programs offered at CHS and FHS.
Members of the Class of 2023 participated in a Zoom webinar Thursday, Jan. 14 to learn about Career Education programs available at Kettering Fairmont (FHS) and Centerville High Schools (CHS).
Students will need to apply to programs they are interested in and the process is somewhat selective. There are usually two spots in every program for Oakwood students. However, at times exceptions have been made.
Fairmont High School
Mrs. Jensen, Fairmont CTC Principal, will post a general informational video on the CTC website Jan. 25. Fairmont will host an open house Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. (they ask people not to arrive prior to 6 p.m.). Students and parents will go directly to the program(s) they wish to see and can leave when finished.
Applications are due Feb. 5. Final acceptances will be made by 3 p.m. Feb. 16.
Centerville High School
Centerville will post program-specific videos Jan. 27. Applications will be due Feb. 5. Virtual/phone interviews, if needed, will be conducted Feb. 3 - 17. Students will be notified of acceptance by Feb. 19. Students will need to either accept or decline the opportunity by Feb. 23. Centerville High School requires an acceptance offer be both signed and returned to them to secure a spot in the program.
