The mission of Oakwood High School is to provide for all students a superior learning experience, which emphasizes maximizing each student’s academic potential, character, development, positive physical growth, and personal opportunities for success. Oakwood High School serves grades nine through twelve. The enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year is approximately 740 students. We have 65 full and part time faculty members on staff.

Oakwood High School has something for everyone. We offer an amazing Fine and Performing Arts program. We continue to be ranked as one of the best in the state for our arts programs. In 2016, we introduced an A Cappella group called Synergy, which is enormously popular with our students and the community.

We have clubs and activities for a variety of interests. Students can get involved in any one of our 38 clubs. Most students play multiple sports during their time at Oakwood with 21 varsity sports to choose from, including lacrosse and field hockey.

Our parents and community are the best! They are supportive, informed and involved in groups like PTO, Athletic Boosters and the Arts Bridge, just to name a few.

Oakwood High School is once again included on the Washington Post list of “Most Challenging Schools,” released in May 2017. We offer 17 advanced placement courses, and students can earn college credit in our College Credit Plus program. The engineering program is rigorous. It consists of a state of the art lab where students get a jump-start on a future engineering degree or may just want to explore the discipline to see if it’s a good fit for them.

Oakwood High School has so many opportunities in which students can immerse themselves. Learn, grow, explore, and enjoy! Make the most of your time here at OHS.
