Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These students have the opportunity to compete for additional scholarships worth more than a combined $26 million available next spring.

 This year, Oakwood Schools recognized the following 2025 National Semifinalists:

• Henry Almoney
• Robert Einhorn
• Joseph Hong
• John Martin
• Veronica Oehlers
• Aamah Williams
• Tristan Williams

“This is quite an honor for our students, as more than 1.3 million students participated in this test last year,” said Oakwood Schools Superintendent Dr. Neil Gupta. 

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title. In February, Oakwood will be notified whether any students become recognized as National Merit Finalists.
