Oakwood High School speech and debate is wrapping up another weekend of competition with team members qualifying for the state tournament in March.  A select number of students competed virtually at the Hathaway Brown Tournament Jan. 15.  Tess Patton and Julia Neal placed second in Public Forum Debate, qualifying for the state tournament.

The full team competed Jan. 8 in the Olentangy Liberty Classic. The team placed fourth in team sweeps.  Earning individual awards were: 

·       Claudia Schnell and Emerson Davis, 1st place in Duo interpretation

·       Lily Meehan and Cat Svobodny, 2nd place in Public Forum Debate

·       Henry Almoney and Ben Moulton, 2nd place in Duo Interpretation

·       Tristan Williams, 2nd place in Lincoln Douglas Debate

·       Halle O'Hara and Maggie Bremner, 3rd place in Duo Interpretation

·       Robert Einhorn, 4th place in Lincoln Douglas Debate

·       Gabby Vish, 4th place in Congress Chamber A

·       Anna Munk, 5th place in Congress Chamber A

·       Marcela Strombeck, 5th place in Congress Chamber B

·       Janie Woods, 6th place in Original Oratory
