State winners of Gov. Youth Art Exhibition

The 52nd Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition, featuring artwork created by talented high school students from across the state, will open for viewing Sunday, April 24 at the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus.

Three pieces created by Oakwood High School students were selected to be included in the juried exhibition.  Senior Cecilia Dalrymple has two pieces in the show, a ceramic clay and high fire glaze vase and a machine quilted cotton fabric quilt.  Sophomore Sasha Guseva has a mixed media drawing, entitled Suppression, on display.

The selection of 348 works of art is a cooperative effort between the Governor of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Education, colleges, universities and business sponsors.

"The exhibition is a testament to the high quality of visual arts education that exists in our state. It is vital that the community understands the value and importance of arts education, and the impact that it has on our young people.  We hope that this exhibition fosters that understanding,” Thad Ricker, Executive Director and coordinator of the exhibition, said.

For additional information about the exhibition, you can visit the state’s website at https://www.govart.org/dates.htm.
