Scholarship Information

Scholarships managed by The Dayton Foundation are now available for OHS students.  To learn more about these opportunities:

  1. Visit the Scholarship Connect page on the Dayton Foundation website
  2. Click on "Getting Started"
  3. Read all of the instructions

Once you have carefully and thoroughly read the instructions:

  • Set up your account.  It is recommended you use your email account
  • Complete the general application
  • Ask Mrs. Desch to send a .pdf version of your transcript to your email

To access Oakwood specific scholarships (if they haven’t appeared automatically):

  • Click the Opportunities tab
  • Click Ours
  • Type “Oakwood” in the search field (Please note, there may be other non-Oakwood specific scholarships for which you qualify)
  • Do your research

The following scholarships will appear on the Oakwood list and are due by 4 p.m. March 4, 2022, no exceptions.  Additional information is available for each scholarship by clicking on the name of the scholarship.

You can also visit the Oakwood Schools Foundation page for more information on scholarships they award. 

* The Adam Broock Memorial—will appear on an ‘Oakwood’ search, but it is only open to current college students who attended any high school in Montgomery County.

Once you have applied:

  • Inform teachers you have designated as a reference so they can be on the lookout for the e-mail from the Dayton Foundation.
  • Ask only teachers who have already written for your college applications.

Resilience Scholarship Fund

The Resilience Scholarship Fund was established in 2019 as a legacy initiative in memory of former OJHS principal, Dan Weckstein. 

It will award (5) $1,000 scholarships in 2022.  The scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors who have shown extraordinary resilience to a personal or family life challenge.  Examples include family, personal, health, physical, emotional, mental health and all other scenarios where resilience has been demonstrated.


  • Students must be current high school seniors within one of the following eligible Ohio school districts:   Oakwood Schools,  Lakota Local School District,  Kings Local School District, Centerville City School District, Kettering City School District
  • Students must plan to enroll in a post-secondary educational program (Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree, Vocational School, etc.)
  • Complete the electronic form by midnight March 27, 2022 for consideration:
  • Scholarship recipients will be announced in May.

Scholarships will be evaluated by (2) different constituents – a team of JH/SH students and a team of JH/SH Staff.  Keep this in mind when completing the application.  Applicant names will be removed from forms when reviewed for consideration.
